     People like Skitzo just have no idea what they are talking about. All the popular email clients including Yahoo have the same spam and spammer email going through them. I rather use GMail as they have been extremely effective in screen out all the spam of my hundreds of emails received, plus they do virus scan files.

     There are some sites that are off the wall or offer you throw-away email addresses.

      Why not try creating some on your own? All you have to do is jot down the “buzzwords” that interest you, take the list and search through deleted domain lists for available domain names that contain your key words of choice. Go to the site http://www.ExpiredDailyDomains.com where you can search free of charge through tens of thousands of deleted or expired domain names with an easily configured search engine. It allows you to choose the length in characters, where the keyword is located in the domain name, and whether you want to include hyphens and numbers. I have located some nice domain names throught that site. The nice thing is that once the search results list is generated, you can immediately check the availability of each domain name.

      When you buy a domain it will have all the features a domain has to offer. What features you get depends on the web host you select.

      You can buy a domain for around 10 dollars, but a domain is useless unless you also buy hosting for that domain. — Most of the time this is two separate processes.

    How do I stop illegal use of my domain email?
    My domain is hosted by YAHOO. I am receiving notices of emails being undelivered – NOT sent by me. The spammers are using fake email names @ my domain. Within 5 days I’ve had 46 different emails @ my domain used that are not mine, and now my LEGITIMATE email address has been BLACKLISTED.
    How do I stop this from happening? How do I get Yahoo to fix it? The Yahoo security bot tells me they’ll get back to me within 48 hours – over and over. What now?

      What you described is a common reality: at some point, somene might “spoof” (you can learn more via the link I’ll include) your email address and send out emails believed to have come from you. It’s difficult if not impossible to solve, especially if you have little knowledge how this occurs.

      Unfortunately yahoo ISN’T going to help you fix it. They’re as helpless as you are despite their resources, although they might post suggestions or something.

      Bottom line: either you read up on the subject and try to fix it yourself, or get someone technically well-versed to handle this for you. One clue that might help stop this problem, though is to use an “email authentication” method like SPF

      You can not “forward” mail to another account unless you go in and manually forward each mail item you want. You can however, inform all of your contacts of the new E-mail address of the account you want the mail to go now.

    Is a domain name email more hack proof than something from a free service?
    Or are they just as vulnerable? Seeing as how the mail goes to the inbox of the domain service which could be anything from fatcow to godaddy.. etc.

      It depends on your service… If you host your own server (IE: smtp, POP3, IMAP), then you probably aren’t secure. BUT, if you use godaddy, they are very secure.

      hotmail, and gmail are the most secure because they are designed to be secure.

      If you do go with your own domain email, you have less chance of getting spam if you don’t give any website your email. (other websites sell your email in a list to other organizations)

      It’s considered perfectly safe to clean out the blocked list when it gets full,— since spammers change their addresses with each mailing and have long since abandoned the ones sitting in your blocked list. You need to make room for the new ones coming in.
      On your mail page, click “options”—then “block addresses”. Highlight them (or at least the older ones) and “remove block”.
      You might want to leave the individual personal ones that you’ve chosen to block–or perhaps the domains.

      With Beta mail—-mail page>>options>>mail options>>spam>>block addresses.

      1st way
      In Yahoo Mail Go to options > Mail Options > Account > Add
      Fill in the Sending options only
      A verification number will be sent to your personal email address you have with your domain
      Enter the code properly in the Yahoo Mail settings
      Then this new email address will appear in the Yahoo Mail composer in a drop down menu and you will be able to set it by default.
      Then forward your email sent to your personal email address to your Yahoo account

      2nd way
      In Yahoo Mail Go to options > Mail Options > Account > Add
      Fill in the Sending and the Receiving options
      The Receiving options will automatically POP your personal domain account but you will need to know the settings provided by your registrar. For the Server it is usually something like
      pop.yourdomain.com with or without SSL enabled

      First, Domain Names work in this fashion. You go to a registrar and check the availability of the domain name you desire. It is is available you can purchase it.

      Second, yes you have to renew your ownership every year unless you purchase it for longer than one year. This option varies from registrar to registrar, meaning some offer only annual purchasea while others will do terms for like up to 5 or maybe 7 years.

      Third, some companies will send you an reminder that you need to renew your domain name while others will not be so courteous.

      Now on to your Website issues.

      No. You do not have to purchase a domain name prior to building your website. Ok, here is where it can become very tricky. At some sites you can purchase your hosting package, this is called your webspace…the place where you will actually create your website. With some companies, if you either register your domain through them you may get free hosting, or if you subscribe to a hosting package you may get a free domain name.

      About what happens to your website if you don’t renew it… Ok, if you host your website on a seperate host apart from your domain registrar, then your website will not be lost. Instead of people seeing say, www.mysite.com … they might then have to type in a URL like (long example of a hosting comanpy’s hosted webpage -)www.webhostcompany.com/mysite/index.html

      Where ever your hosting is provided say with outfits like geocities, angelfire, freewebs, places of that nature, will give you their site name and perhaps a subdomain name. Subdomains are a little easier to remember than actual long base URL. www.50megs.com is a good hosting company for basic pages and they provide subdomains for user rather than long URLs.

      Domain names are what I call cover names for your hosting servers long winded URL (See example above) Think of the actual domain name as a nick name. Say if your name is Bartholmew Urian Damokoffski, your friends might call you BUD for a nick name. In this example, BUD would be the domain name for the longer example of a URL that would be provided if you hosted your website at say one of the prominent hosting providers listed above.

    How do I change my domain name without losing my email associated with the old domain?
    I have a Yahoo Small Business website, and numerous email addresses connected with that website, and don’t want to lose them, because I like having all my email accounts in one place.
    However, over the years, my interests have changed, and I want to create a website with a different domain name. How can I change the name without losing the email associated with the old domain.

    • ANSWER:
      Easy. Simply work through your old domain registrar to “forward” your old domain to your new domain. This creates an “alias” for your accounts. You MUST maintain your old domain name for this to work. An alias does NOT work if you let your old domain name lapse. In essence, when anyone tries to access an old domain address, they are forwarded to your new domain name address. The annual fee of X dollars for your old domain name is a small price to pay for forwarding everything from the old to the new WITHOUT telling anyone the NEW domain name and address. This is very much like forwarding your mail when you move from one house to another, except as long as you pay the annual fee, it goes on for as long as the old domain name is “valid”. Case on point, my ISP. They changed their name when they were bought out. What used to be domain A became domain B. I can use either my address at domain A as well as my name at domain B to access my account. So, on web pages elsewhere where I re3ference my email at domain A is forwarded to domain B as long as my ISP maintains the old domain name. I trust my ISP will maintain the old domain name as valid so I do not have to backtrack to everywhere my old address was to update each link to the new domain name address. If my ISP drops the old domain name, then anyone attempting to contact ME will result in failure. It all only works as long as my ISP maintains both addresses and links the old domain address to the new domain address.

    does yahoo allow us to sign up for email adresses that have a domain name before the “@yahoo.com” like “mydomain.com @ yahoo.com”. reason i ask is i tried to do that, but the yahoo free sign up form states that it is unavailable on several of my domain names, so eitther yahoo does not allow one to register such a name with a “.com, .net or .org” in it, or someone else has registered my domain names as the prefixes before the “@yahoo.com”. i need to know what yahoo’s policies are about this. do they or do they not allow for domain addresses as i have stated here as email addresses? .

      You can set up your own email there for free. A little technical, but most any 14 year old could help you out. (Or ask a computer major at the local college or junior college to do it for twenty bucks.)

      Owning a domain name gives you nothing. You must find a company to host it. They can give you web space, email, or both. Godaddy is a site that will sell and host.

    How do I send from my domain name email so it shows up as that sender not from yahoo?
    I registered my domain with 123-reg and I can now receive emails sent to the address to my yahoo address & my outlook, but how do i send from it? I can’t find my way around 123-reg to see how to log in and send from my domain name, only forward to receive.

      You are confused! A domain name has nothing to do with e mail. Your website has an e mail link. When someone clicks it and sends you mail, it goes to whatever e mail link you gave it. To mail them back, use your e mail program!
