      if you have legally purchased the domain name and can prove it – then tell them to sod off. if it is a genuine complaint (which i doubt as their acting so quickly) then discuss terms with them. it could be bullying tactics to get you to dump the domain so that they can buy it for cheap, or get it off you for free.

      with legal proceedings, the claimant must give the defendant reasonable time to respond to the complaint, if they hurry things along, you could get it thrown out for failure of ‘due process’

    How do I make a domain unaccessable for computers on a network that share the same lan connection?
    I have a domain setup with MS Server2000 that all of the computers in our company are part of. I need to have a certain number of computers removed from the domain so that everything within the domain is unaccessable from those computers while they still work within the building.
    I created a separate workgroup and added those few computers to it so that they can share files between them but not with the rest of the company and not with the domain. The problem is is that because they are within the building and on the same lan – when they are on the workgroup they can still access the folders on the domain through My Network Places and map drives to those folders (some are shared).
    How can I set the server/domain so that everybody outside of the domain cannot access any folder or file residing on the domain itself? So… how do i make DOMAIN-A unaccessble by any computer outside of DOMAIN-A or at least by any computer on WORKGROUP-B?

      1. Create user groups for your users. eg. Finance, Production, Sales, etc.. Don’t forget the SysAdmin group with administrator rights

      2. Assign users to the individual groups.

      3. For the folders that are to be shared, make sure the sharing assigns only those user groups that have rights to those folders.

      4. Create user accounts for even those people who are not supposed to access the domain shares, but do not assign them to any user group that has rights to access any of the domain folders.

      5. Remove ‘Everyone’ user group from the folder shares.

      You now have valid users assigned to user groups that are able to access folders they are supposed to. You also have invalid users who are not assigned to user groups, but belong to the ‘Everyone’ group, and they cannot access any folders within the domain. You now also have a way to log all the users (valid or invalid) when they login to the domain.

    How do I remove a domain from an old work computer?
    I’ve been given an old notebook from work. Is there any way I can sever the default domain so I can get the computer set up as part of my home network, short of completely reinstalling XP? My own user account has administrator priviliges. When I try to add a new user account with a new domain it won’t allow it.

    Basically I just want to turn it into a home computer rather than a work computer without having to reinstall everything.

      If you have administrator access, right-click My Computer and choose Properties. Click the Computer Name tab, then the Change button. It should currently have the Domain radio button selected. Select the Workgroup radio button, give it a Workgroup name, then click OK all the way out. It will prompt for a restart. After that, you should be ready to go.

      You need to use the migration feature of active directory.

      Here’s one thing you can do…

      1.) Forward your mail from your domain to your Yahoo address. You can usually do this within your hosting/domain management account.
      2.) In Yahoo mail go to Options > Accounts > Add Account, and create a new alias (my word) with which you can send email from Yahoo and have it appear to come from your domain. Yahoo will ask you to confirm you have access to the mailbox.

      That way you can use your domain name for both sending and receiving, and do it all from your regular Yahoo email.

      For this question, you should remember that domain represents the set of possible ‘x’ values (independent values) of a function where a possible ‘y’ value is produced. Now, the range implies just the opposite: the set of possible ‘y’ values (dependent values) of a function where a possible ‘x’ value is produced.

      Therefore, let’s look at the equation y = 1 / x. Notice how if we put x = 0 into that equation, the ‘y’ value we get would be 1 / 0 which is not possible. Hence, x = 0 is not in the domain.

      However, the range, would be the span of the corresponding ‘y’ values that make this equation true.

      You don’t – ICANN charges for domain names and, regardless of where you order one, it’s ICANN that gives it to you. (You can get it for free, but that means that someone else is paying ICANN for you. Microsoft will give you a free domain name [for 6 months or a year or something like that] – they pay for it. After that, you pay for it.

      If you can’t afford /year (that’s about what it costs), consider using a free dynamic IP service like No-IP or DynDNS. (I’m assuming that you’re hosting the site yourself.)

      No need to buy the domain name in any special way. Once you buy the domain name you have rights to it and can do whatever you want with it.

      You will have to sell the domain name to a third party getting payment on your own terms, and then you can simply transfer the domain name to that party.

      One thing to remember when you do buy a domain name your are not allowed to transfer it for 60 days after purchase. So you need to hold onto it for 2 months before reselling.

      Actually, if you have a gain more than the 0,000 or 0,000 that can be excluded, you have the option of buying replacement property up to 2 years after the conversion, to defer the non-excluded gain until you sell that house.

      If you fail to obtain replacement property, or if you elect not to report purchasing replacement property, the conversion is reported as if it were an ordinary sale.

      The domains you are talking about still contain Apple’s trademark, iPod, so it’d be my guess that you’d have a hard time holding on to those domains. Large corporations take their intellectual property quite seriously. I suggest contacting a trademark attorney before moving ahead with your plans.

      We say Y is the range because on a cartesian xy graph, Y is generally what we are solving for. The range will be the range of what Y will be on the graph. X is the domain because that tells us what values of X we can use. ie, in some cases the domain will be anything that will not produce an “error” such as a zero in the denominator.

      Say I wanted to buy 2 apples a day for 7 days. And I didn’t eat any, how many would I have after 7 days?
      So:
      day1 = 2
      day2 = 4
      day3 = 6
      day4 = 8
      day5 = 10
      day6 = 12
      day7 = 14

      This can be modeled by y = 2x
      Y will the the answer, which is the amount of apples I will have after X number of days. So looking at my answers (from above), the range will be 2 to 14. The domain will be 1 to 7, because I am only looking at it for 7 days. Technically, in the equation y=2x, the domain can be any real number and the equation will still work. But since I specified for only 7 days, the domain is 1 to 7.

      A “registrar” is a company that is allowed to issue internet domain names with ICANN. This service is then sold to consumers in the form of an annual registration fee for a particular domain name. See here for more details:

      Now, it is a common misconception that when you registar a domain name, you “own” that name. In reality when you pay for a domain name, you pay for the rights to use the name and the service the registrar provides to allow you to manage that domain. The the name is “assigned” to you but only authorized registrars can “manage” domain records with ICANN. When you are the assignee for a domain, you have the right to transfer that name to any other registrar you wish (kind of like your cell number). This is protected by regulations. You need to have a static IP address and a router that can do port mapping (most do).

      BTW, I use godaddy.com as a registrar which is cheap (under /year with multi-year discounts) and provides a lot of management features. My DNS is served from zoneedit.com which is free for 5 domain names. My web server is run from my house.

      If they are savvy enough, just send the files in a zipped format and let them unzip them and take a look at the html file. The paths have to be working so if the page will work alone with the reference you have to the CSS file, then you’re good to go. Otherwise, if the files do not have the correct relationship with each other, then the paths are broken and nothing will work right.

      The files also do not have to be zipped, as you can attach each one as an attachment. The zipped form is only good if you have lots of files which your email may not be able to send because of size limitations.

      Another alternative is to use file hosting and let them download the files from there:
